Bull Roarer

Bull Roarer

Alternate Name - Thunder Stick.

This toy is one of the world's most ancient and universal toys. In one form or other, the THUNDER-SPELL or BULL ROARER has been found in cultures as diverse as those in of the Inuit, the Australian and New Zealand Aborigines as well as the ancient Greeks and Britons. Because of the eerie, unique sound this item makes when swung around in the air, it was commonly used as part of religious and magical ceremonies before becoming a child’s toy.
